About our school
CICS Bucktown, located in one of Chicago’s most culturally-rich communities, is a premier inner-city charter school that has made dramatic gains over the past decade in reading, math, and science. Recognized for growth on the Illinois State Achievement Test (ISAT), CICS Bucktown was also named an “exceptional” school by the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA).
The mission at CICS Bucktown is to inspire and support each child’s physical, social, emotional, and academic learning for success at school and beyond using a personalized learning approach.
Christy Krier joined CICS Bucktown as a fifth grade teacher in 2005, bringing more than 15 years of experience in education, including teaching grades 3-8 and as a principal and childcare director. In 2009, Ms. Krier became the upper grade team leader. She holds a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Math and a Masters degree in School Leadership, both from Concordia University Chicago.
